Trail Town isbuilt for you.
Our Store is packed with great gear, and the right gear goes a long way to getting us out there and keeping us out there. Road shoes on a technical icy mountain pass are harsh, as are trail shoes on a road marathon!
Having a pack with front access storage is really useful on a long trek and a lightweight seam-sealed waterproof jacket is essential in wet races and on fastpacking adventures. Quality, moisture-wicking clothing is a must out there, and great socks are a godsend.
We use the gear in our Store to train, race, and adventure; to maintain health, vitality, mental wellbeing, and focus; and to overcome addictions, or because of addictions.
Trail Town hasno borders.
In this part of our Trail Town, we aim to fill the gaps that gear can’t fill, to bring together all the important things that lie between the action.
We have an amazing range of quality nutrition and hydration products,
but what works for who and why?
We have an extensive range of hydration vests,
but what should my training plan look like?
We have an impressive range of trail running shoes,
but who still gets blisters?
We have a heap of gear that bids us well out there,
but what happens when we don’t feel like getting out of bed?
Being out there we find solitude and peace,
but should we do more for the landscapes that we spend so much time in; should we be giving back?
I love to run,
but how can I connect with runners in other places?
I run loads but I am tired. I train and eat well but I’m losing muscle mass. I am eating the same as she is, but my stomach has gone south and hers hasn’t.
The differences between us are vast.
We go to the trails because we feel at peace in the wilderness; we go to gyms because we find solace in our strength; and we go to yoga classes to stretch our mind, body and soul.

Mayor of Trail Town
Previously living near the Cleland Conservation Park trailhead, I could feel every day the need for a trail specific store in Adelaide that was near the trailhead as there are in so many other parts of the world. A gathering place for trail folk and a store that provided the gear that I trusted and gear that I thought was well-regarded within the trail community. A store where you can soak in information about races, adventures, coaches, communities, gear and destinations and connecting people with the wider community of trail enthusiasts, adventurers and Dirtbags. I wanted to work with the brands and their reps who believed in their products and understood trail life.
So BKT-Trail was born. I am now a recovering lawyer, forever an adventure runner and a proprietor who has created a space where you can come in a bit pongy, a bit trail dirty and a bit sunscreen smelly. My space is your space.
I am not sure if adventure inevitably follows my run life or if I run far because I impatiently seek out adventure. Whilst I tend to lean towards the latter, adventure and running far, are now so closely related that I am unable to define them as separate experiences. Perhaps the magic is that if adventure is fun and running far is hard, uniting the two means I am regularly in a state of gratifying exhaustion.
I was pretty blessed at my first international event, the Marathon des Sables, as not only was the experience unforgettable, my strength and determination surprised me, and my new companions were really tremendous. The Australian and New Zealand contingent occupied 4 tents and have since become my ultra-family. They were committed, strong, humble, supportive and bucket loads of fun. I thought: if this is what adventure running is all about, then I’m in, forever!! So, it came to be my splendid adventure-run trail-love life.
Marathon des Sables
The Marathon des Sables in Morocco was my first trail running race and ultra-running race. The MDS changed my world.
Jungle Marathon
It was the hardness, harshness and lack of support that made the Jungle Marathon the race that had the biggest impact on me.
Western States
The Western States Endurance Run is the world’s oldest 100-mile trail race, and getting in on my first lottery ticket was insane!
